What does April bring to MPC?

April at the Mediterranean Dance Center brings together formal and informal encounters through dance, in the lead-up to International Dance Day on April 29.

This month at MPC is shaped by female authors and artists. Their work comes from different practices, but shares a common interest in the body, process, and presence. That is why they are in Svetvinčenat.

At the beginning of the month, Dora Šesto and Lila Ribera Ducreux are in residency developing their duet BOOP!. Their work moves between structured choreography and improvisation, exploring the relationship between rhythm, body, and presence, inspired by the recognizable iconography of Betty Boop.
On April 11, they will lead a workshop open to both amateurs and professionals.

Mid-April marks the return of Matea Bilosnić, who has already developed and presented works from the Never series (Never ALLone, Never Again) at MPC. Her new project Never Together continues this line of research, focusing on process, traces, and the ways performative work comes into being.
On April 18 at 20:00, a public presentation of the work in progress will be followed by a conversation with the audience.

On April 25 at 18:00, we open the pop-up exhibition We Came Here to Dance by photographer Jelena Janković.
Alongside the exhibition, through an informal gathering, we share the story of MPC: how it is being built, how it is developing, and what we want it to become.

On the same day at 20:00, as part of the San Vincenti Dances programme, we present the award-winning performance Mercedes máis eu by Janet Novás and Mercedes Peón. It is a powerful encounter between dance and music, built through presence, listening, and the relationship between two authors on stage. The guest performance is supported by Embassy of Spain in Croatia.

See you in April in San Vincenti!
