Oct 17-19, weekend at MPC: Evolution of the Mind, VR performances and an educators’ workshop
Weekend program, MPC San Vincenti, October 17-19
Three days of contemporary dance in Svetvinčenat bring a live performance, innovative VR experiences, and an educational program dedicated to introducing dance to young audiences.
The programme begins on Friday, 17 October at 20:00 with Evolution of the Mind by Katarina Đurđević and collaborators, a performance that raises questions about the boundaries between human and machine, analogue and digital, body and artificial intelligence.
On Saturday morning the schedule features Francis Footwork, a VR performance by one of Ireland’s leading dance companies, CoisCéim Dance Theatre, recorded in VR format within the Aerowaves network. The screening is followed by a thematically related workshop, Creative Dance Stories, designed for children and young audiences, but open to all who attend Francis Footwork.
Saturday afternoon brings the start of the two-day MPC Classroom led by Alexandra Madsen, dedicated to body imagination and composition through the film frame. The day concludes with the VR performance Roselyne by Prague-based performer, singer and choreographer of French-Portuguese origin Cécile Da Costa, a poetic portrait of a woman searching for her place in life, balancing between visibility and disappearance.
The VR performances at MPC are part of the international project Springback Ringside of the Aerowaves network. The VR versions were directed by Enya Belak (SLO), filmed and edited by Igor Crnković (HR), with the Croatian project partner HKD Sušak. The programme is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia as part of its audience development initiative, aiming to bring contemporary dance closer to children, young people and the wider community through innovative performance and educational formats.
In this way, the Mediterranean Dance Center continues to pursue its mission: to open space for contemporary dance in all its forms – from the theatre stage to VR headsets, the film frame and the dialogue with artificial intelligence.
