Matija Ferlin: SLEEP, MY BABY, SLEEP - performance 17.10.2026.

Matija Ferlin’s performance, based on a play by Jon Fosse and developed with performers Petra Chelfi, Martina Tomić, Ivana Pavlović and Petra Valentić, premiered at MDC in 2025. It now returns to San Vincenti with a special recognition: a nomination for Best Performance, an award presented by the Croatian dance professional associations UPUH and UPPU PULS.

ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE

Sleep, My Baby, Sleep is a dance performance based on a play by Jon Fosse, directed and choreographed by Matija Ferlin and developed in collaboration with performers Petra Chelfi, Martina Tomić, Ivana Pavlović and Petra Valentić.
The performance explores an unstable in-between space that continuously dissolves and re-emerges. Through fragmented gestures and micro-actions, the performers do not embody characters but become affective carriers of the atmosphere. Their bodies are attuned to perception, constantly reading the invisible tensions between movement, text and space.
In collaboration with composer Luka Prinčič, Fosse’s text is deconstructed into a layered sound score. Body, voice and sound create a dreamlike performance structure in which the text is no longer simply something that is spoken, but becomes part of the rhythm and atmosphere of the work.
Sleep, My Baby, Sleep was created through a collaboration between Katana and Tras studio, marking the beginning of their longer-term collaboration in contemporary dance.
