Martina Nevistić: PULSAR / DEEP NEON: IN BETWEEN / THE GIRL FROM TOMORROW - projections 16.10.2026.
Three films by choreographer and dance artist Martina Nevistić Vukobrat come together for one evening at the Mediterranean Dance Center.
Created between 2019 and 2024, Pulsar, Deep Neon: In Between and The Girl from Tomorrow are connected by the artist’s interest in the relationship between body, movement and camera, and in the possibilities that film opens up for dance. Across the three works, motifs of science fiction, futuristic spaces, altered physical conditions and bodies that change and adapt within them recur in different ways.
The programme starts at 20:00, with all three films screened consecutively.

PULSAR
Experimental dance film Pulsar thematically relies upon the vastness of space and the world of science fiction, drawing inspiration from literary and cinematic classics of the genre. At its centre is a choreographic exploration of a body adapting to altered physical conditions, different gravitational forces and unknown biospheres.
The movement is inspired by the characteristics of pulsars: rapid rotation, spiral movement, contraction and pulsation. The film explores the relationship between body and space, as well as the possibilities of film editing, image composition and different perceptions of time and space.
Rather than following a conventional narrative, Pulsar opens up different possibilities of interpretation through atmosphere, image and inner monologue. Its science-fiction and dystopian perspective is also connected to a reflection on contemporary life, shaped by the imperative of success and a constant stream of visual stimuli.

DEEP NEON: IN BETWEEN
Deep Neon: In Between is a film developed from the multimedia project of the same name, inspired by the neon punk movement, cyber fashion and suggestive music that creates the distinctive atmosphere of a space opera.
Within a dystopian atmosphere, three female characters are connected through physical actions that unfold like a domino effect. The work explores corporeality through different planes and layers of the image, as materials, movement and points of focus overlap. Dynamic movement thus acquires an additional oscillating quality.

THE GIRL FROM TOMORROW
As in her previous work, The Girl from Tomorrow arose from Martina Nevistić Vukobrat’s need to open up new possibilities for understanding the body and movement through the film camera. The camera allows the viewer to focus on details and minimal changes in the moving body that might remain unnoticed in a theatre space.
The film plays with the relationship between real and stylised movement. A handheld camera follows the dance, while static shots capture everyday bodily movements. In the central part of the film, slow motion reveals subtle changes the body undergoes through speed and effort, slowing down and breaking movement into its smallest articulations.
A futuristic atmosphere is created through the space and costumes, while the slowed-down image evokes a body that might exist under different physical conditions, in zero gravity or in a parallel universe. The film concludes by returning to a static frame and real time, opening up an optimistic view towards the future.
