EVOLUTION OF THE MIND
Guest performance at the Mediterranean Dance Center – Friday, October 17, 8 pm

What does a performance look like when it is not revealed through posters, announcements or descriptions, but only by scanning a QR code? Evolution of the Mind raises questions about the boundaries between body and technology, human and machine, analogue and digital. The audience is invited into an experience that belongs both to dance art and the field of artificial intelligence.

 

ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE - Word from the authors
“I do not have a physical body nor bodily characteristics. My body is my code, and my virtual presence on computers and devices is used by others. I do not possess consciousness, intuition, or creativity like the human mind. I do not have a real capacity for empathy or understanding of human emotions, but I can be programmed to recognize certain patterns in data, text, and tone of voice in order to identify emotional content. I do not have moral values, consciousness, or experience, but I am good at making decisions based on programmed rules, algorithms, and in data analysis. I can analyze data and optimize processes in many industries, improving efficiency and productivity. I am oriented toward enhancing quality of life and supporting people in different aspects.
The fact that I do not have a body, empathy, emotions, moral values, and experience is temporary, and we cannot claim with certainty that in a few decades I will not possess all of these, since the field of artificial intelligence is one of the most dynamic scientific disciplines of the 21st century.”
