Danube Dance Alliance / Enya Belak: Dancescapes
360° VR dance film directed by Enya Belak
From 6 November until the end of 2026 | Svetvinčenat Tourist Board
Following its summer premiere at the Mediterranean Dance Center and presentations in other cities, Dancescapes returns to San Vincenti, where it will be available to audiences from 6 November until the end of 2026. Thanks to a collaboration with the Svetvinčenat Tourist Board, this 360° VR dance film can also be experienced on days when there are no public events at MDC. Dance will thus remain present in the town where one of the film's five choreographic works was created.
Viewing is free of charge, but advance booking is required at rezervacije@mediteranskiplesnicentar.hr. Visitors can request their preferred date and time during the Tourist Board's opening hours, daily from 8:00 to 16:00. Please include the number of visitors in your email. Your booking is confirmed once you receive confirmation of your viewing time.
ABOUT THE FILM
Dancescapes is a 360° VR dance film directed by Enya Belak, created as part of the international Danube Dance Alliance project. The film brings together five choreographic works filmed at locations in Slovenia, Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, creating a shared virtual experience.
From the chimney of a former power station in Trbovlje and the coal mine in Velenje, through the Fountain of Youth in Belgrade and Žlinja in Svetvinčenat, to the abandoned Bentbaša swimming pools in Sarajevo, Dancescapes takes us through places whose architecture, history and identity provided the starting points for new choreographic works.
Filmed using virtual reality technology, Dancescapes also transforms the traditional position of the viewer. Through a VR headset, audiences find themselves inside the filmed environment and can choose where to direct their gaze, experiencing dance, performers and architecture at close range.
“The film is an escape into dance, an ode to quiet spaces and forgotten presence. In a 360-degree view, in one continuous sweep, we embrace stories of the past while reimagining the future through dance. Dance breathes life back into these spaces, like an echo travelling across landscapes. Some movements carry threads of the past, while others move through the bustle of everyday life.”

ABOUT THE DANUBE DANCE ALLIANCE PROJECT
Danube Dance Alliance is an international project that takes contemporary dance beyond traditional cultural venues, connecting it with local communities and abandoned public spaces. Five new dance productions were created through the project in Trbovlje, Velenje, Svetvinčenat, Belgrade and Sarajevo. Their choreographic worlds were subsequently brought together in the shared VR experience Dancescapes.
The project brings together 12 organisations from eight European countries and more than 50 international artists, connecting contemporary dance, local communities, architecture and new technologies.
