Zagreb Dance Company & Matija Ferlin: 'STAGING A PLAY: TARTUFFE' - premiere and rerun

Award-winning choreographer and director Matija Ferlin is preparing a new project produced and performed by the Zagreb Dance Company - Staging a Play: Tartuffe is the title of a new work that will premiere on Saturday, November 25 at 8 pm at the Mediterranean Dance Center in Svetvincenat. A replay will follow on Sunday, November 26th.

Continuing his long-standing interest in language, especially in exploring the relationship between verbal and bodily expression in the performing arts, Ferlin is committed to setting up Molière's canonical dramatic text, which will serve performers as a layered choreographic score instead of a textual template. After the first Staging a Play production in 2015, in which, according to the same principle, he set up the Tennessee Williams Glass Menagerie (Best Performance Award, 8th Biennial of Contemporary Dance in Slovenia), Ferlin chose to cover one of the world's most famous comedy. Dramatic replicas in this performance will be discontinued and replaced by physical vocabulary, and the whole choreography is created by the development of a specific system that the author has been developing in recent years and in which it is possible to recognize his characteristic authorial style. Ferlin continues to collaborate in this project with his longtime collaborators - Mauricio Ferlin (scenography), Luka Prinčič (music) and Jasna Jasna Žmak (dramaturgy).

The play is performed by: Petra Chelfi, Andreja Jandrić, Domagoj Janković, Darko Japelj, Sintija Kučić, Marin Lemić, Roberta Milevoj, Petra Valentić and Kasija Vrbanac.

The project is being produced by the Zagreb Dance Ensemble and in collaboration with the Istrian National Theater - Pula City Theater, Zagreb Youth Theater and the Mediterranean Dance Center.
