Residency - Nika & Luna Lilek - workshop 5.7.2025.

In July, the Mediterranean Dance Center hosts Nika and Luna Lilek, sisters and artistic collaborators, who are developing a new project titled I Will Dream Awake during their residency. The work-in-progress explores the boundaries between reality, imagination, and the inner dialogues we carry with ourselves.
As part of the residency, they will also hold a workshop on July 5, open to dance artists and enthusiasts interested in immersing themselves in their creative process.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
I Will Dream Awake is a work in progress that explores how our thoughts – conscious, unconscious, intuitive, or imposed – shape our perception and actions. Through physical tasks, interaction with objects, and shared movement research, the authors examine layered relationships between the rational and the irrational, control and surrender, inner impulse and external instruction.
Who makes decisions? Where does free will begin, and where does the influence of others end?
Special attention is given to questions such as: Are we the true creators of our thoughts, or merely their vessels? Can imagined experience be as real as lived one? What roles do the body and space play in that equation?
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
The workshop is an integral part of the research process, offering participants the opportunity to experience, challenge, and reflect on the methods the artists use in developing the work. At its core are movement as a cognitive tool, the body as a space of dialogue, and materiality as a catalyst for transformation.
The program includes discussion on core themes, physical warm-up focused on inner impulses, tasks involving objects and unexpected situations, learning and deconstructing movement material from the creative process, and a shared reflection to close.
The workshop is intended for those interested in exploring the relationship between movement, perception, and thought within an open and evolving creative environment.
