ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE
With Show Gone, Toronto-based artist Ame Henderson and Croatian choreographer and theatre director Matija Ferlin bring to a close a trilogy of duets that began fifteen years ago – a creative friendship and a choreographic relay carried through time.
Now, after years apart – with lives transformed and bodies changed – the two artists ask: what must we reveal to one another in order to move forward together once more? How do we reconnect after life has temporarily pulled us apart?
The performance unfolds like an anti-scroll experience, counter to the logic of social media. Instead of static images shown just fast enough to mimic life, it offers fragments of lived stories at human speed. And from this endless sequence of endings, a quiet sense of beginning slowly emerges.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Ame Henderson (Toronto) is a choreographer and dance artist whose practice spans publishing, performance, and exhibition formats. As co-founder of the collective Public Recordings, from 2003 to 2015 she produced and performed in more than a dozen ensemble works and collaborated with Toronto Dance Theatre from 2013 to 2019. She works as a performer, dramaturg, and outside eye, and teaches in Canada and abroad. She regularly collaborates with artists such as Katie Ward and Evan Webber.
Matija Ferlin is a Croatian theatre director and choreographer of group works, as well as performer of his own solo pieces. A graduate of the School for New Dance Development in Amsterdam, he subsequently lived and worked in Berlin and Toronto. Returning to his hometown of Pula, where he was born in 1982, he has focused on researching and reassembling diverse concepts of stage performance, collaborating with both actors and dancers.
