Residency – Igor x Moreno: Petras – Showing 31.5.2025.

In May 2025, the artistic duo Igor x Moreno will be in residence at the Mediterranean Dance Center, where they will begin the development of a new work titled Petras. The piece is a co-production between Zagreb Dance Company and S’ALA, a contemporary performance space in Italy, and will premiere in Zagreb in September 2025.

The residency at MPC marks the first step in the creation of this full-length work — a tribute to female togetherness, resilience, and the strength of collective creation. We warmly invite you to the public work-in-progress presentation on 31 May at 8 PM.

Petras speaks of women who have created, resisted, and survived. Inspired by the mondine — seasonal female rice field workers in northern Italy — and the sorginak — women associated with nature, healing, and ancient rituals in Basque culture — the piece constructs a space in which shared movement becomes both a form of belonging and a question of freedom.
