Artistic residencies in 2026 - Open call

Mediterranean Dance Center (MPC) in Svetvinčent, Croatia, invites dance artists and collectives to apply for the 2026 residency program. We welcome projects in contemporary dance, physical theatre, performing arts, and hybrid artistic forms connected to movement.
Residencies at MPC are not only about studio time – they create a house for dance, a place where movement is shared, and where artistic processes grow. MPC is a welcoming space where artists can find both focus and connection.

CONDITIONS OF THE CALL

MPC provides:
- studio (9 × 20 m, wooden floor, black or white dance floor, basic lighting),
- accommodation for up to 5 people in a shared gallery space above the studio, dressing room, sanitary facilities and kitchenette,
- daily food allowance of 20 EUR per person,
- technical support for the final presentation,
- production support in communication, promotion and connecting with the local community,
- inclusion in MPC’s annual programme and promotion through our communication channels.

Artists are expected to:
- cover their own travel expenses and creation costs of the project itself (props, scenography, costumes, collaborators’ fees, etc.),
- introduce the project to the community upon arrival (e.g. talk, informal meeting),
- propose and lead a community-related activity during the residency (workshop, open rehearsal, round table, discussion, etc.),
- present their work at the end of the residency (work-in-progress or an already existing piece). Additional ideas are welcome.

Residencies will take place within the following periods in 2026: 1–21 March, 11–25 April, 3–16 May, 3–17 October, 7–28 November. It is not necessary to use the entire proposed period – artists may suggest a duration that suits their project needs, as long as it falls within one of the listed timeframes.
Applications can be submitted in English or Croatian.
Deadline for applications: 10 October 2025.

NOTE: In the final application steps, you can choose whether and how much to donate. Donations support the maintenance of the residency space, but are not obligatory and will not influence the selection process.
